FANTASTIC FREDS FIRE EIGHT PAST CAVERSHAM

Jonny Hall and Will Nicol ran riot up front in the first thirty five minutes, with THE FREDS pinning Caversham in their own half for the duration. Jonny Hall hit three, Will Nicol struck twice, not forgetting a spectacular strike that crashed back off the crossbar, and Matthew Lambe pounced inside the six yard box to smash home. THE FREDS were worth it.

Joe George and Harry Howard combined well down the left flank, and provided much ammunition for the shooters. Together with Will Nicol, they pressed tirelessly, won possession and delivered good crosses. Nat Haddon looked self-assured on his return, calm and composed as a sweeper, and played good passes out to break defensive lines, often inviting Matty Goodman to get on the ball and orchestrate once more from the lower tip of the diamond. Harry Buckland and Jacob Haines looked to be in control, and Matthew Lambe worked well down the right side with George

Santacana-Melvin in support and Jonny Hall ahead.

Luis Hill, Will Beynon, Matthew MacDonald and Tom Todd all contributed to a second half effort. Joe George crossed for Jacob Haines to finish, and Tom Todd raced away from the last line of Caversham's defence before thumping past the exposed goalkeeper.

Caversham, setbacks aside, continued to play nice passing football from the back, combined nicely once or twice up front, and hit a curling free-kick from distance inside the far upright. Credit where due, Broncos look like they have a brighter future ahead.

Set plays continue to be an achilles heel for THE FREDS, with half of the goals conceded since October being struck direct from free-kicks.
